As the holidays approach, Walmart is preparing to launch what it characterized as major changes to its online marketplace operation affecting both delivery and returns.
Walmart stated that it would add millions of additional items to the marketplace covered by free two-day shipping, which already is available from its own product inventory on orders of more than $35. Walmart is working with high-performing marketplace sellers to extend the free two day shipping offer to their eligible merchandise.
To make marketplace returns easier, Walmart is in the process of enabling customers to log into their Walmart accounts, print out return labels and ship products back to sellers.
Then, making the return of marketplace products even more convenient, Walmart stores will begin taking returns on eligible items. In store returns begin in mid-November. At that juncture, customers need only package a product for return and bring it to the services desk at any Walmart store, which then will ship it back to the seller, who will generate a refund.
