On Saturday, May 16, Pyrex glass bakeware brand continued its 100-year anniversary celebration in its hometown of Charleroi, PA, by renaming the town to Pyrex, PA. Charleroi has been producing Pyrex products for over half a century.
The town renaming initiative officially kicks off a mobile tour that will honor Pyrex products in America. Pyrex, PA marks the second major event celebrating the Pyrex brand following the debut of the “World’s Largest Measuring Cup” at the International Home + Housewares Show in Chicago earlier this year. The cup will make its way from Charleroi to the Indy 500, the CMA Music Festival, the Corning Museum of Glass, Macy’s Herald Square, and the Wawa Welcome America Festival in Philadelphia.
“World Kitchen has been working hard to make this celebration larger than life, literally. It only made sense to bring the kick-off celebration to Charleroi, the town that has been the home of Pyrex glassware for more than 50 years. A town that, though small in number, is mighty and has brought quality products into the homes, and kitchens of millions of Americans,” said Carl Warschausky, president and CEO of World Kitchen.
As part of the town’s renaming ceremony, World Kitchen hosted a celebration for the employees, retirees and residents of the town. The event featured a pancake breakfast, live entertainment, an interactive photo booth, product giveaways and more.
“We consider the Charleroi employees the heart and soul of the Pyrex brand,” said Warschausky. “Their hard work and dedication to the brand does not go unnoticed.”
To further engage consumers, the 100th celebration also continues online with a “Pyrex 100 Days of Giveaways” promotion that began in March, and a #RaiseYourGlassSweeps on Twitter and Instagram where users can post photos of themselves raising a Pyrex glass in celebration for a chance to win a grand prize trip for two anywhere in the U.S.
