Zak Designs intends to close its showroom space at the Forty One Madison building in New York.
According to the company, changes in the business landscape of the housewares industry in the past several years have caused Zak Designs to modify its approach to both sales and product introductions. That shift led the company to take a critical look at the importance of maintaining a year-round presence in New York.
“We typically launch our new programs and meet with all our key buyers during the International Home + Housewares Show. Because the New York Tabletop Market takes place so close to the IH+HS, and because so many of our buyers are getting ready to travel to the Canton Fair, attending the New York Tabletop Market in the spring has become less of a priority for Zak Designs,” said Irv Zakheim, chairman and CEO of Zak Designs. “This decision was made based solely on a shift in our business strategy and is in no way a reflection of our company being dissatisfied with the space at Forty One Madison.”
